The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has officially announced the appointment of Goran Lojo as the new head coach of the Gazelles, the Uganda Women’s National basketball team.
The Bosnian assumes the position just one month after Alberto Antuna’s resignation from the head coach role.
Antuna has since been unveiled as the coach of Senegal’s Women’s team, having previously guided the Gazelles to a commendable seventh-place finish at the 2023 FIBA Afrobasket held in Rwanda.
It’s a huge appointment for the Gazelles who will be under a vastly experienced coach.

Lojo was the coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina women’s national team coach from September 2017 to February 2023.
He guided the Bosnia and Herzegovina women’s national team to the quarterfinals and secured fifth place at the 2021 European Championships, marking their best-ever result in the history of the tournament.
The gaffer also helped the side to a 12th finish at the 2022 FIBA World Cup.
Notably, Lojo took charge as the coach of the German women’s Bundesliga club Rutronik Stars Keltern in January 2023, leading the team to clinch the German championship title in April of the same year.
The Gazelles are gearing up for the upcoming FIBA Women Afrobasket Qualifiers (Zone V), scheduled to take place early next year.
