Namaisi’s Long Throws Hand Kataka Win Over Jinja North

Kataka beat 10-man Jinja North 2-1 to maintain their perfect winning record at home.

In eight games, Kataka have lost thrice, drawn once and won four times. All their four wins have come at Mbale stadium.

Before Jinja North, Kataka had also beaten Kigezi HomeBoys (2-1), Blacks Power (2-1) and Kiyinda Boys (1-0) respectively.

The Mbale- based side’s Friday win at home now takes them to thirteen points.

Kataka captain Steven Namaisi’s long throw-ins yet again produced two goals, one in the first half, and another in the second half.

Jinja North played for over an hour with a man less as Bronson Nsubuga was sent for an early shower in the 25th minute. Nsubuga was shown a straight red card for playing recklessly against Noah Kizito.

In the 36th minute, Namaisi threw in a long ball into Jinja North’s box, it went past the goalkeeper Isaac Mukiibi, Aka Marcus who was on the edge of the 16-yard box cut the ball back for Latif Ssenkubuge who tapped in to score the first goal of the game.

Just five minutes after the restart of the second half, Kataka got another throw-in in the opponent’s half, Namaisi threw in another long ball to the opponent’s box, finding central defender Hassan Wadenga who had come forward for the throw-in and he simply tapped in from close range to double the hosts’ lead.

As the game looked like it was almost done, Dickson Matama in the 76th minute, produced a special moment to pull one back for the Jinja-based side.

The forward created a goal from almost nothing, as he held onto the ball, dribbling through a forest of legs to be brought down by Wadenga in the forbidden area.

Amos Etojo stepped up to take the penalty, and he scored for the visitors. The visitors’ efforts to get an equaliser bite no fruits as the game ended 2-1.
