Richard Makumbi: Lugazi Confirm ‘Promotion Specialist’ As New Head Coach

FUFA Big League side Lugazi have appointed renowned tactician Richard Makumbi as their new head coach.

“We are delighted to announce coach Makumbi Richard as our new head coach,” Lugazi confirmed on Tuesday, November 14.

Makumbi comes in to replace coach William Kyeswa who was suspended some weeks ago citing repeated cases of indiscipline.

Without Kyeswa, assistant coach Gerald Efitihas been taking charge of the club on interim basis.

For the over 30 years that Makumbi has been in coaching, he has promoted over ten teams to top flight football in Uganda, and outside the country.

Makumbi was in charge when Vipers (Bunamwaya), BUL FC, Soana, Iganga Town Council, Fire Masters, Mbarara City and Buikwe Red Stars, SCOUL, Mukono Lions, and UTODA were promoted to the top division.

The tactician also guided Kenya’s Western Stima to Premier League qualification.

The experienced coach will now want to do the same at the ambitious Lugazi team that’s currently sitting 6th on the 15-team Big League table with 11 points from the six games.
