The earlier suspended Uganda Premier League (UPL) game between Wakiso Giants and Express has been rescheduled to Sunday, November 19, 2023.
“Wakiso Giants FC Vs Express FC has been rescheduled to be played on Sunday 19th November 2023 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium-Wakiso (3:00pm),” the UPL confirmed in a letter dated November 12, 2023.
Earlier on, the UPL Secretariat had received Circular No 1178 on 28th October 2023, suspending all matches involving Express FC.
Match number 46 (Express FC Vs SC Villa) and Match number 56 (Wakiso Giants FC Vs Express FC) were accordingly suspended.
On November 10, 2023, the FUFA Executive Committee lifted the suspension on Express FC matches after a meeting with members of the Uganda Football Referees Association (UFRA) and the FUFA Referees Standing Committee (FRSC) at FUFA House in Mengo.
Relatively, UPL CEO Bernard Bainamani also confirmed that Match number 46 (Express FC Vs SC Villa) will be scheduled at a later date because SC Villa has upto three (3) players summoned on the final squad for the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Guinea and Somalia.
Before their suspension, the Red Eagles had played five games and lost none, winning three and drawing the other two.
Express’ last game in the league was the 1-1 draw away to UPDF. The following games against SC Villa and Wakiso Giants were both postponed.
