Uganda Rhinos Reach CECAFA U15 Final

The Uganda U15 National Team (Rhinos) are set to defend the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) title after reaching the final again.

Abubakali Walusimbi and Samuel Mubiru scored first half goals against Tanzania in a 2-0 semi final win at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Monday, November 13 to send the hosts through to the final.

Walusimbi and Mubiru scored for Uganda in the 12th and 44th minutes respectively, as Feisal Juma scored Tanzania’s consolation goal in the 84th minute.

“We shall do the best to see that the trophy stays at home,” Uganda Rhinos headcoach Hamuza Lutalo said before the start of the tournament.

“We are the defending champions, we are going to compete for the title,” the coach affirmed then.

With a set of totally new young players, the Uganda Rhinos are on course to repeat their 2019 heroics when they won the inaugural regional competition unbeaten.

The Uganda Rhinos, under Jackson Magera then defeated neighbours Kenya 4-0 in Eritrea to emerge champions of the first ever CECAFA U15 Boys Challenge Cup in August 2019.
