Kenya claimed the 2019 Elgon Cup after a 16-05 win over Uganda on Saturday at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.
Tries from Billy Odhiambo and Jacob Ojee turned Ronald Kanyanya’s try and Uganda’s 16-13 win in Kisumu into a consolation.
Uganda Rugby Cranes lost 20-13 against Kenya Simbas on Saturday in the return leg of the Elgon Cup at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu.
The defeat saw Uganda lose the two-leg Cup 40-34 having won 21-20 last Sunday at Kings Park Arena in Bweyogerere.
Timothy Kisiga scored Uganda’s only Try while Ivan Magomu and Liam Walker added a penalty each, with the latter making a conversion as well.
Jone Kubu was the start of the day as the Kenyan totalled 15 points including a Try and two penalties.
Elkeans Musonye crossed over for Kenya as well, and the side held on despite Paul Mutsami’s sin bin.

The Elgon Cup had last been played in 2019 when Kenya beat Uganda 16-05 at Kyadondo to overturn a 16-13 deficit in Kisumu.
The title is number 13 for the Simbas while Uganda has won only thrice (2006, 2012 and 2015).
