JKL Lady Dolphins got their Zone V Club Women Championships off to a perfect start thanks to a 84-30 win over South Sudan’s Nile Legends in Kigali.

They won the second quarter 18-03, third 25-11 and eased into the fourth 25-02 to exert their dominance and win the game by a huge 54-point difference.

Key players like Hope Akello, who scored 13 points and secured 17 rebounds, along with Rita Imanishimwe and Flavia Oketcho contributing 12 and 10 points respectively, led JKL’s commanding victory.

Rhoda Naggita, part of the JT Lady Jaguars in the National Basketball League, stood out for Nile Legends with 10 points, supported by Kur Ajah, who added 7 points and collected 11 rebounds.

The tournament serves as a qualifier for the upcoming 2023 Africa Women’s Basketball League scheduled in Egypt from December 8 to 17.

JKL Lady Dolphins, placed in Pool B, compete alongside hosts Rwanda Energy Group (REG), Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), and Tanzania’s Jeshi la Kujenga Taifa (JKT).

Pool A comprises teams such as APR from Rwanda, Kenya’s Equity Bank Hawks, Tanzania’s champions Vijana Queens, and Burundi’s Gladiators, promising an exciting tournament ahead.
