Kutchi Tigers will seek to keep their hopes of winning the National Men’s 50 Over League title alive when they face Nyakasura on Sunday.
The Tigers occupy the third position currently in the league with 8 points, but with both Aziz Damani Development (12) and Aziz Damani (12)- the top two teams in the league- playing a game and two respectively more than Kutchi Tigers, the Tigers still have an outside chance of lifting the title.
Their victory against bottom side ACC a fortnight ago kept them in the equation, and should they beat Nyakasura on Sunday, they will reduce the point gap to two.
Nyakasura haven’t won a game since 10th September when they beat Avengers by 3 wickets.
The students have lost two in between and consequently dropped to sixth.
Sunday’s game will be Nyakasura’s eighth. After that game, they will be left with just one to end their season. Should they lose both games, they risk getting relegated.
Should ACC stage a shocking upsurge and both Ceylon Lions and Patidar win all their remaining games, Nyakasura, if they lose both their games will be relegated.
A win on Sunday, however, will guarantee their safety as it will take them back to fifth with a point tally of 8. Nyakasura in fact need just a point to confirm safety.
