Netball Super League Fixtures for the 2023/24 Season Released

The Uganda Netball Federation’s Planning and Organising Committee has revealed the fixtures for the upcoming 2023/24 Netball Super League season.

The season’s kickoff has been rescheduled from October 28, 2023, to November 4, 2023.

This change was made to allow teams to complete the registration process, including fee payments.

As of now, only three out of the 14 teams have paid the required Sh2m.

Committee Chairman Michael Kakande Ssewagi explained “We aimed to commence when all preparations were in order.”

“Given that most teams are government entities and receive funding quarterly, and the government’s quarterly releases are pending, so we had to extend the dates.”

He also stated that the venue that was earmarked for the initial throw-off dates, was booked by other parties.

The league matches will take place at three venues: Kamwokya TLC, Busia (home of Busia Greater Lions), and Bombo (Army SS).

Clubs must submit emails and logos to receive licensing certificates, among news changes.

Kakande expressed confidence in the Committee’s ability to deliver a competitive season.

Defending champions Prisons will kick off their title defense against newcomers UGISA, while other newcomers DIT and Dynamite will face UCU and Posta, respectively.

KCCA, last season’s title contenders, will take on Africa Renewal in their opener at Kamwokya.

Darling Uganda, a hair styles and extensions company, has partnered with the league as the official dresser of umpires. They will be associated with Uganda Netball for 6 months and have also provided 200 seats for use during games.

Dan Ntale, the Netball Federation Marketing Manager, highlighted the importance of such sponsorships in improving the Federation’s image and encouraged other sponsors to join the league.

Brig Flavia Byekwaso, the Acting President of the Federation, expressed confidence that the league would continue despite governance issues within the Federation.
