Aziz Damani won by 71 runs
Soroti City 124/5
Jinja SS 122/8
Soroti City won by 2 runs
Aziz Damani made light work of Jinja SS on Saturday as the side remained with their 100% run in the National Women’s Super 7s T20 Cup.
After losing the toss, Damani were sent in to bat. Immaculate Nakisuyi who was recently named the club captain replacing Consy Aweko led from the front for her Damani side.
The ‘boss lady’ dragged her team to 127 from her 57 not out after the top order of Jennifer Nabwama (9), Proscovia Alako (20) and Gloria Obukor (4) had managed only 33.
Nakisuyi then saw to it that Jinja SS only manage 56 runs. Despite picking just one wicket, the all-rounder bowled at an economy of 1.67, the best by any player.
Nakisuyi who bowled at No.5 conceded just five runs off her three Overs. It was an all round performance that handed her the Player of the Match award.
Aweko picked the remaining wickets (3) as Damani made it three wins in three.
Jinja SSS produced a much better performance in the afternoon game. The side went toe to toe with Soroti City despite losing the game.
Like in the morning game, they won the toss and opted to bowl. While Soroti put 124/5, the students were up to the challenge, only losing the game by 2 runs.
Stephanie Nampiina who managed only 11 runs against Damani notched a half century of 63.
Nampiina had the support from her captain Hope Mbeiza- the other Jinja SS player to score in double figures (26)- but their efforts went in vain as Soroti picked their second win.
Soroti City after losing to Damani the previous weekend were desperate to return to winning ways, and they did just that.
Although a hard fought victory, they’ll take the points that now take their tally to four off three games.
Jinja SS meanwhile join Pioneer as the two sides with two losses in their opening games.
