Preview: KCCA Shifts Focus to League
KCCA FC faces Maroons just days after narrowly missing out on advancing to the CAF Confederation Cup groups.
The Lugogo-based squad secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Abu Salim at Kitende. However, it was the Libyan side that progressed with a 5-4 aggregate win.
It has been a challenging start for KCCA under the guidance of their new coach, Sergio Traguil, with losses to URA at Lugogo in the FUFA Super Eight and a defeat in the opening league match against BUL.
The upcoming clash against Maroons presents an opportunity for KCCA to redeem themselves after a dismal start to the season.
Maroons, on the other hand, has shown promise, amassing four points in their two games, including a win against Wakiso Giants and a home draw against SC Villa.
Coach Traguil has faced criticism for frequently altering his team’s lineup since taking over, particularly in the goalkeeper position, where all three options—Anthony Emojong, Derrick Ochan, and Juma Mutebi—have been given a chance.

Mutebi made his debut against Abu Salim, alongside debutant defender James Mubeezi, the latter is expected to have way for Mustafa Mujuzi.
KCCA boasts a squad brimming with talent, and regardless of the starting lineup, they will be expected to deliver in front of their eager supporters.
Maroons is known for its solid defense and the ability to capitalize on opponents’ mistakes going forward thanks to the talented trio of attackers Darius Ojok, Fred Amaku, and Abraham Tusubira.
In the previous season, Maroons managed to secure four points against KCCA, with a victory at Luzira and a draw at Lugogo. Coach Muhammad Ssenfuma aims for a repeat performance this season.
