Weatherhead (M) maintained their top of the table status in the National Men’s Hockey League after edging Rockets 2-0 over the weekend.
Despite heading into the game as the top scoring team in the league, Weatherhead had to scrape through to remain top of the table.
Their goals arrived early in the game, but as expected, Rockets didn’t make things easy for the table leaders.
Collins Batusa and the league’s top scorer Thomas Opio got the goals in the first quarter, but as it turned out, that first quarter performance was what Weatherhead needed to win the game.
They remain top of the table on goal difference as Wananchi eased past Badgers on Sunday.
Jackson Musinguzi netted a hat trick as Wananchi put five past Badgers.
Shafic Byamukama and James Larombi scored the other two goals for Wananchi who remain second on goal difference.
Rockets dropped a place down to fourth following that loss. They relinquish the third position to Kampala Stallions who beat City Lions 4-0.
Richard Ssemwogerere scored a hat trick for his side as they made light work of the Lions.
Benjamin Mkapa scored the other goal.
City Lions remain seated fifth in the league with 20 points while Badgers remain seventh with 12 points.
