Weatherhead will be desperate to stay top of the table when they face third placed Rockets on Saturday in the National Men’s Hockey League.
Weatherhead have led the race for a larger part of the season, but their status could be altered on Saturday. They will come up against a resilient side that has in recent times proved a handful to the top two.
The table leaders are in that position only on goal difference. Their fiercest rival Wananchi are second with the same number of points- 37.
Considering the above, nothing, but a win will keep Weatherhead atop, but they will know that they will need to be at their best to overcome the hurdle that Rockets will present.
Should Weatherhead falter, it will give an opportunity to Wananchi to reclaim the summit.
The defending champions play a relatively easy opponent in Badgers who they meet on Sunday in what will be the final game of game week 16.
As the two sides battle for the league, their players Thomas Opio (Weatherhead) and Jordan Achaye (Wananchi) are also neck and neck for the golden boot.
Opio tops the goal scoring charts with 31 goals while Achaye is second with 29. The two will be relied on for goals by their respective clubs as each seek for a happy ending.
Away from the top two, 6th placed Makerere Stingers will open the game week against 9th placed KHC Originals.
City Lions (5th) against Kampala Stallions (4th) will then follow before the Weatherhead game on Saturday.
Bottom side Weatherhead Titans against Thunders placed 8th will be the penultimate match of game week 16.
