Kampala Hockey Club Swans will enter game week 16 of the National Women’s Hockey League with a boost in their squad having acquired the services of Norah Alum.
The table leaders raided Wananchi for their new recruit, and will now go into their game against Thunders with a boost particularly upfront where Alum operates.
The Swans will be eyeing to stay top of the table, and with the addition of Alum who joins her siblings, Lucky Akello and Winnie Alaro, KHC will certainly fancy their chances to not only stay on top, but win the league for the first time.
With the other title rivals Wananchi and Weatherhead facing off on the same day, KHC know this is an opportunity for them to open up a reasonable gap at the top.
The three siblings will be tasked to find goals against Thunder. Alum left Wananchi as the side’s second highest scorer with ten goals. She will seek to continue with her scoring exploits.
Akello is KHC’s top scorer this season with 17 while Alaro has 8.
Thunders who are rooted to the bottom of the table have conceded the highest number of goals (101) so the Swans should find no hardship in dispatching them.
The big game of the weekend however, pits 3rd placed Weatherhead against 2nd placed Wananchi.
This heavyweight matchup takes place on Sunday as the day’s opening game.
Wananchi have 24 points to their name, Weatherhead have 23. A win for Wananchi will see them leapfrog KHC at least for a few hours as the KHC game happens later in the day.
A win for Weatherhead however, will see them accumulate 26 points, same as the table leaders, however, they will take the second spot due to their inferior goal difference.
Weatherhead Historicals against Wananchi HDF is the other women’s encounter this weekend.
