Aziz Damani Face Jinja SS Assignment

Aziz Damani will travel to Jinja to take on Jinja SS at the Jinja SS Cricket Oval on Saturday seeking to maintain their perfect start in the National Women’s Super 7s T20 Cup.

Damani opened their campaign with two wins last weekend, edging their rivals Soroti City by 13 runs before comfortably seeing off Pioneer by 100 runs.

They will seek to make it three in three, and will hope Proscovia Alako who had decent outings in the aforementioned games continues with her form.

Damani head into this encounter as table leaders with 4 points, two ahead of second placed Soroti City. They can stretch the point gap to four for at least hours with a win as Soroti face the students later in the day.

Like Damani, Saturday’s game will be Soroti’s third. They beat Pioneer by 10 wickets in their opening game at the start of September, but lost their second to Damani.

They have been presented with an opportunity to return to winning ways as they face a side they beat to win the league in June.

Irene Alumo, team captain Janet Mbabazi, Sarah Akiteng and Patricia Apolot were shadows of themselves against Damani.

Soroti will need them to be mean with their bowling against Habib Mugalula’s team’s batting lineup of Mary Namiiro, Whitney Nassuna, Hope Mbeiza and Stephanie Nampiina if they’re to keep their sights on the table leaders.

These two teams served the fans with a thrilling encounter in the league in June. With Soroti needing to win it to win the league, the game went down to the wire, but Soroti were able to edge it by 1 run.

Alumo shone that day, picking three wickets, but it’s Jinja SS’ Rashida Tikabula who picked the most (4). The students will hope they can mount the same challenge on Saturday.

This will be Jinja SS’s second game of this competition. Depending on what happens against Damani- their opening game- Jinja SS will be hopeful for a decent result.
