The KIU Titans defeated the UCU Canons 86-72 in the first game of the best-of-five semifinal series playoffs of the National Basketball League.

Initially trailing by just a point after the first quarter, the KIU Titans gained momentum in the second quarter with a 28-18 win, and they held onto their lead throughout the game.

Unfortunately, UCU Canons faced challenges due to injuries to Peter Sifuma and John Baptist Dauna, compounding their difficulties as Coach Nicholas Natuhereza had to play without Jimmy Otim, who was injured in the Quarterfinals against Power.

Amisi Saidi led the KIU Titans with 23 points, shooting 9-for-15 from the field, while Edgar Munaaba contributed 17 points. Innocent Ochera and Collins Kasujja managed 11 and 10 points, respectively, and Denis Balungu added nine points and nine rebounds.

On the UCU side, Joel Kayiira scored 13 points, Abram Isyagi had 12 points, Lwabaga Ibanda scored 11, and Jerry Kayanga contributed 10 points, with all four players reaching double digits in scoring.

The KIU Titans capitalized on UCU’s fatigue, as this game followed just two days after UCU’s victory over Power in game three of the Quarterfinals.
