•Maroons 1-1 SC Villa
SC Villa and hosts Maroons settled for a point on Sunday at Luzira on match-day two of the new season of the Uganda Premier League.
Fred Amaku put Maroons ahead before Villa levelled through Arnold Odong as both sides settled for a point.
The opener was created by Darius Ojok whose delivery was headed by Amaku few minutes into the second stanza.
Villa responded through Odong who volleyed in after Maroons failed to clear from danger.
Villa created the best chances and will feel could have grabbed maximum points from Luzira.
Forward Hakim Kiwanuka failed to beat Hannington Ssebwalunyo in a one-on-one situation.
Umar Lutalo sent a freekick, in a good area after Kiwanuka was brought down at the box edge, over the bar.
Ivan Bogere also had his header off Peter Onzima’s brilliant cross, blocked.
The Visitors also had a penalty appeal denied after Maroons goalkeeper collided with Onzima inside the box.
It’s the first point of the season for Villa who lost their league opener to Kitara at Wankulukuku.
Maroons on the other hand move to four points having beaten Wakiso Giants in their opener.
What next – Maroons visit KCCA at Lugogo while SC Villa host NEC at Wankulukuku on match-day three.
