National Hockey League: Weatherhead Thrash Makerere

Thomas Opio scored three goals as Weatherhead battered Makerere 10-2 to remain top of the National Men’s Hockey League.

Opio who is now the league’s top scorer with 31 goals got his first in the second quarter before finding the two in the last quarter.

Collins Batusa and Timothy Ntumba were each on the score sheet twice. Batusa got his goals in the 3rd quarter while Ntumba’s came in the 4th.

Moses Tushabe who opened the scoring, Maxwell Mugisha and Brian Okodi rounded off the scoring for the league leaders.

Mathias Akanyihayo’s brace only passed for a consolation.

The result keeps Weatherhead on top of the table on goal difference after Wananchi responded to it with their own win against Weatherhead Titans.

Jordan Achaye, Shafiq Byamukama, Innocent Tumukunde and Emmanuel Baguma were all in the score sheet as Wananchi beat Titans 5-0 to stay level on points with Weatherhead.

Another comprehensive victory was registered in the Kampala Stallions vs Kampala Historicals game.

The former beat their sister club 10-0, with Aaron Mutenyo notching five. Stuart Sempebwa, Alfred Agaba, Ernest Musumba and Pike Atuhaire also got their names in the score sheet.

The Stallions stay fourth despite the win while the Historicals remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
