Masaza Cup 2023
Quarter Finals First Leg
*Gomba 3-1 Ssingo
*Bulemeezi 0-0 Buwekula
Gomba picked a deserved 3-1 win over Ssingo to take the first leg advantage of the Quarter finals of this year’s Masaza Cup edition.
Allan Oyirwoth scored a brace while forward Kenneth Kimera scored the other goal as Gomba humbled Ssingo at Kabulasoke on Sunday.
Gerald Maido scored the only goal for Ssingo on a day they will live to forget.
It was a brilliant day for Gomba, who are record holders in the Masaza Cup competition.
And they will be seeking to go far in this edition after poor outings in the previous seasons.
Ssingo will host Gomba in the return leg at Mityana Ssaza grounds and they will be hoping to overturn the result.
Elsewhere in the other quarter final game, Bulemeezi were held to a goalless draw against Buwekula in a game held at Kasana Luwero on Sunday.
It was a disappointing day for Bulemeezi, who are seeking for a third title in this competition.
But for Buwekula, they will feel proud for picking up a needed result away from home and will be hoping for success at their home.
Buwekula, coached by Frank Mulindwa have been brilliant as they topped the Masengere group and are without a doubt one of the top contenders this edition.
The two sides will meet next week on Sunday 24th with Buwekula hosting the return leg.
