Maroons stunned Wakiso Giants with a 3-0 win in their Uganda Premier League game opener at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium.
Abraham Tusubira produced a man of the match performance when he assisted Darius Ojok’s brace before he later scored his own with 10 minutes on the clock.
It’s quick to note that this is a third loss for Wakiso Giants in a row on matchday one, the Sharks have lost to KCCA FC (twice) and now to Maroons!
Reigning UPL younger player of the season Ojok gave the Visitors an early lead in the first minute of the game after a fine set-up from Tusubira.
George Kaddu would have brought matters level but had his free-kick kept out by Ronald Orombi.
Ojok also had a chance to double Maroons advantage but he had his effort denied by goalkeeper Lukuya.
Patrick Bayiga nearly scored in his own net off Marvin Nyanzi initial strike but was denied by the woodwork.
Fred Amaku missed an empty net after Ojok beat Wakiso defence.
At the 34th minute, Darius Ojok doubled Maroons’ lead tapping in from close range thanks to Abraham Tusubira’s assist.
George Kaddu had his freekick saved by Ssebwalunyo after Kigozi was fouled at the edge of the box.
With 11 minutes to the final whistle, Abraham Tusubira put the icing on the cake after the keeper had moved off his line, and Maroons completed a deserved win.
In their next fixtures, Wakiso Giants visit Soltilo Bright Stars on Saturday 23 while Maroons host wounded SC Villa on Sunday 24th.
