City Oilers rolled into this year’s NBL Playoffs semifinals after a gigantic 121-70 victory over Kampala Rockets on Sunday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The Oilers complete a 2-0 sweep in this best of three quarterfinals series having won Game One 88-68 on Friday.

And coming into Sunday’s game, the Rockets needed nothing but a win to save their season.

But their ambitions met a strong wall of Oilers who scored 20 points in the opening five minutes en route to leading the first quarter 37-13.

The game was all but done at halftime when Oilers led 67-29, and there were no signs that the Rockets could have overturned a 38-point deficit in the second half.

The third quarter ended with the Oilers three points shy of a 100, and the score was 121-70 at the final buzzer for one of their easiest wins ever.

Luak Ruai and Titus Lual scored a joint high 22 points each while the latter added 10 points for his double double.

Allawi Ssenkubuge added 15 points, James Okello and Moses Maker had 14 each while Ivan Muhwezi contributed 11.

For the Rockets, Kur Garang scored 21 points whole Francis Kasinde and John Dombo finished with 16 and 10 points respectively.

Oilers will wait on the winner between Ndejje University Angels and Our Saviour, with the former leading the series 1-0.

It’s the end of the season for Kampala Rockets who will however feel proud having reached here on their NBL debut.

The loss, a 2-0 sweep, may not come as a shocker to many and it was expected, but the manner in which they played on Sunday was lacking of a side that looked promised in game one.

They were out-rebounded 36-57 as Oilers took 58 points off the bench!
