Wananchi, Weatherhead In Mouthwatering Clash

The chasing pack of Wananchi and Weatherhead go head to head on Saturday in the most highly anticipated game of the National Women’s Hockey League.

Wananchi are the record, and the defending champions of this league! They have accustomed themselves with leading proceedings, but they currently find themselves placed second with 24 points, two behind table leaders Kampala Swans.

Weatherhead on the other hand are three places and three points below the leaders.

They have never been so close to dethroning Wananchi like they are this season. Despite being third, they still have an opportunity to win the league this season, and to achieve this, they must first deal with the hurdle that is Wananchi.

Weatherhead will need to improve on their offence if they’re to outcompete their rivals. With 34 goals, they remain the least scoring side of the top three teams yet this league could be decided on goal difference.

Wananchi lead the scoring charts with 57 goals while KHC have scored four less. Weatherhead’s goal difference reads 19! It is 53 and 49 respectively for the former two.

These two sides could not be separated the last time they met in the league. The game ended 1-1 with Weatherhead equalizing late in the game through Hildar Balondemu on match day two.

Kampala Swans will be out of action this weekend therefore a win for Wananchi will see them go top of the table while victory for Weatherhead will see them dislodge Wananchi from the second position.

The other women’s game over the weekend will see Deliverance Church take on Makerere on Sunday. Deliverance are placed fifth with 11 points while Makerere are second kast with 7.
