The supreme governing body of football in Uganda, FUFA is currently searching for a suitable candidate to fill-in the Uganda Cranes head coach role left vacant after the departure of Serbian tactician Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.
Micho had taken the job in 2021 after Uganda failed to make the AFCON in Cameroon, replacing then interim Abdallah Mubiru. The latter had taken over from Jonathan McKinstry.
The federation, responsible for hiring and firing all technical personels of the different football national teams including the Uganda Cranes has now resorted to putting up a public notice, calling upon any potential candidates to apply for that role, amongst other positions.
“FUFA is seeking competent and qualified technical personnel to fill vacant positions of the Uganda National Senior Team,” the federation announced on Saturday, 16th September 2023.
It’s just a few weeks now to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and as it stands, Uganda has no technical team to manage the squad, let alone summoning it.
FUFA is still looking for a Head coach, Assistant Coach, Goalkeeping Trainer plus a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Uganda Cranes.
The federation now has less than two months to find suitable candidates before November this year when the international qualifiers commence. Uganda is in Group G, alongside Algeria, Guinea, Mozambique, Botswana, and Somalia.
The application exercise in now open for a period of six days, starting from now, to end by 17:00PM on Friday 22nd, September 2023, and no applications sent after that will be considered.
According to FUFA still, all the listed jobs are open to Ugandans and Non-Ugandans, and individuals who have been holders of the above mentioned positions are also eligible to apply.
FUFA demands that all applications should indicate coaching qualifications and working experience, only sent to sent by email and received on (vacancy@fufa.co.ug).
The federation has been very clear that these are full-time jobs that would require fill time commitment, and any candidates who intend to concurrently work with other teams (clubs) will not be welcome.
