Lawrence Tezikya scored the all important goal as his side BUL FC picked a 1-0 win over Bright Stars in their opening game of the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League season.
Tezikya, making his debut, scored in the 35th minute to hand his side maximum points.
It was a brilliant day for BUL, who also won the recent FUFA super eight title.
And as well, it was a good start for head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko who is the new gaffer at the Jinja based side.
Playing away from home, BUL had more chances to score but were wasteful.
Alex Kitata, who was also making his debut was twice denied in the opening stages.
The big moment came in the 35th through Tezikya, who made no mistake to put his side ahead , a goal that later turned out winner.
In the second half, Bright Stars tried to stage a come back but were denied by a solid BUL FC side.
Victory saw BUL FC get off a perfect start in the season. The Jinja based side, who were also busy in the market will be hoping that this is their season to fight for the big prize.
For Bright Stars, the loss gives them more work to do and more so for their new gaffer Joseph Mutyaba.
