Ugandan midfielder Priscillah Kantono is currently in Rwanda ahead of her anticipated move to Rayon Sports WFC from Asubo Gafford Ladies FC.
Apparently, personal terms between player and club have already been agreed upon, now only awaiting for the arrival of some key officials who are out of the country to return, and the vital documents will be signed.
A source close to the player intimated to this website that Kantono is very open to the deal as she’s convinced ‘everything at Rayon is better’ compared to her past experience with her former clubs.
According to an impeccable source, the midfielder will be signed by the Rwandan club alongside two other Ugandan players, whose identities are still concealed.
Kantono started her footballing journey with Mbale Tigers Soccer Academy before later on joining Eastern Heroes in Soroti. She was then signed up by Bugerere WFC before finally crossing to Asubo Gafford Ladies FC.
Gafford last season reached the semi final of the Uganda Women’s Cup, and won the relegation battle in the FUFA Women Super League. They finished seventh of ten teams, with 21 points from 18 games, just a point and two places above relegation.
Kantono’s next destination is certainly a progressive one; Rayon Sports is a fast-rising team with a vision to dominate women’s football in Rwanda and the entire region.
The club was only officially unveiled in 2022, and it took them just one season in the second division to finish the campaign unbeaten, qualifying for women’s top flight football in style.
They were crowned 2022/23 women second division league champions after beating Indahangarwa 4-3 on penalty shoot-outs after both teams played a 1-1 draw at Bugesera stadium. They also won silver after finished second in the Rwanda Women Peace Cup.
