Crested Cranes: Three Players Join Camp

Three influential players have joined the Crested Cranes training camp at the FUFA technical center, Njeru as the team intensifies preparations for the upcoming 2024 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier games against Algeria.

Simba SC’s duo of Joan Ainembabazi and Riticia Nabbosa plus Kampala Queens’ Fazila Ikwaput were all part of training on Monday evening in Njeru.

The trio join the camp a week since the team started training last week, and it’s a great boost to Ayub Khalifa’s side, as they give him more options to chose from when the Crested Cranes face Algeria this month in a two-legged affair.

The first Leg will be held on 20th September at the FUFA Technical Centre with the return Leg coming on 26th September in Oran, Algeria.

The arrival of the three is even more relieving at a time like this, given the regretful confirmation that five of the summoned players players will not be available due to different reasons.
Kampala Queens duo of Samalie Nakacwa, Hadijah Nandago and Phionah Nabulime from Kawempe Muslim are preparing to sit for their national examinations.

While former team captain Tracy Jones Akiror has issues with her documentation, and Shamirah Nalugya picked up an injury during the CAF women’s Champions League Qualifiers with her side Kampala Queens.

Uganda seeks to return to the continental showpiece for a third time and second successive appearance having played in Morocco last year.

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Algeria will face either Burundi or Ethiopia at the final qualification stage.
