Crested Cranes interim head coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi has revealed that his team still has a lot of work to do ahead of the 2024 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier games against Algeria this month.
Kiyingi made the remarks after the team’s first friendly game that saw the Crested Cranes pick a 3-2 win over Kampala Select team in a friendly held at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Sunday morning.
A brace from Amina Nababi and one goal from Elizabeth Nakigozi were enough as Crested Cranes overcame Kampala Select.
Allen Nassaazi and Teddy Najjuma (Penalty) scored for Kampala Select Team on the other hand as they lost on the day.

But despite scoring three goals on the day, Khalifa was left un impressed and revealed that they still have a lot to do.
“We had our first friendly game but I have not actually liked the performance. We have a lot of things to do, we conceded two goals which we didn’t expect.
I think I need to work on the defence and attacking.
“The camp is doing well, we are still working on these players and we want to be good to go by 20th against Algeria.”

It was the first friendly game for Crested Cranes, who entered camp earlier last week.
However, the only bad news is that five players will miss out on this qualification due to different reasons.
Kampala Queens duo of Samalie Nakacwa, Hadijah Nandago and Phionah Nabulime from Kawempe Muslim are preparing to sit for their national examinations.
Former team captain Tracy Jones AKiror has issues with her documentation while Shamirah Nalugya picked up an injury during the CAF women’s Champions League Qualifers with her side Kampala Queens.
The team is in preparation for the upcoming 2024 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier games against Algeria.
The first Leg will be held on 20th September at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru with the return Leg coming on 26th September in Oran, Algeria.
