Kataka Boost Goalkeeping Department

FUFA Big League side Kataka FC have added another goalkeeper, Rajab Okoch to their squad ahead of the forthcoming 2023/24 season.

Okoch joins the Mbale-based club from now relegated third division side, Northern Gateway in Lira.

The shot-stopper’s arrival in Mbale is timely, following the departure of Kataka’s talismanic custodian Edward Kasibante to another Big League entity Police FC.

At Kataka, Okoch will compete for playing time with fellow goalkeepers Solomon Okello, Willy Mapamba and Muzamir Nambobi.

Okoch was one of the players to remember as Northern Gateway FC had a debut season to forget in the national second division competition.

The club spent just one season in the Big League, and were relegated after finishing last on the 16-team table, having collected only 19 points from as many as 30 games.

Throughout the season, the Lira-based side managed only four wins, seven draws and lost upto 19 games.

Okoch now joins Kataka, a side that finished four positions and 15 points above his former side. Kataka got 34 points from 30 games to survive relegation

The Lufumbi boys finished 12th on the table, just two points and a place above Luweero United FC which was the fourth team to be relegated alongside Soroti City FC, Adjumani Town Council FC and Northern Gateway.
