Giancarlo Rodriguez: Brazilian Striker Confirms Vipers Exit

Brazilian forward Giancarlo Rodriguez Lopes has left Vipers, the 33-year old confirmed.

It’s a shocking but rather expected development for a striker who failed to establish himself at the club.

Many at the team feels that Giancarlo, who joined the team on June 30, is not good enough as advertised.

“I would like to thank all the players, the people who work at the club, many who don’t work too, but I made good and beautiful friendships here, unfortunately for the personal reasons of a single person,” Giancarlo stated.

“Today, I say goodbye to the club, very sad for not fulfilling my goals here, but believing that God always has his purpose, I leave my hug and my support for the team, and I hope that you can achieve all the club’s goals.

“I will take with me the good friendships and good memories of this wonderful country that welcome me so well. Thank you. A kiss and hug in each one’s heart.”

Giancarlo had signed for Vipers SC until 2025 and was expected to bolster the Club’s striking line.

As he was described during his unveiling, the Brazilian is a proven journeyman and he has announced his departure before the start of the new season.

He started his career in his country of birth Ferroviario in the 2012/13 season, joined EC Vitoria and later moved to Treza FC in 2014 and he has also had spells in Asia, notably Malaysia.

A lot is brewing at Kitende since Vipers were eliminated from CAF Champions League qualifiers, with head coach Leo Neiva reportedly on his way out.
