The shotstopper has signed a one-year employment contract with the premiership club, now only pending unveiling.

Founded in 2014, Kayanza FC based in Kayanza City, Burundi. The team currently plays in the Burundi Ligue A, the top division of Burundi football.

A few weeks back, the goalkeeper had told this website that he preferred a local deal, but didn’t totally rule out the possibility of crossing borders again to play, with only South Sudan and Rwanda in the picture then.

Speaking to The-SportsNation on his decision to go to Burundi, Opoka said;

“Change is a factor of life determined by so many other elements. I wanted to stay at home, but I had to leave.”

“I weighed in on the available options, and made my final decision basing on that. From Burundi, a decent offer was presented to me, and I took it,” Opoka told TheSportsNation.

The highly-rated shotstopper has previously played for Onduparaka FC, Busoga United, Booma FC, Kyetume FC, Atlabara FC in South Sudan and Kampala University in the University Football League.

Meanwhile, Opoka’s new team sits nineth on the 16-team Primus Ligue table with three points after two games played.

Kayanza lost their opening game 1-0 to Inter Star, before winning the other game 1-0 against Telaviv. It should’ve been three games now for Kayanza, but their away match with Bumamuru was postponed.
