As Police FC prepare for the forthcoming 2023/24 FUFA Big League season, there has been a number of changes, with players coming in, and others going out.
Abdul Nsereko, Hassan Kikoyo and Ronald Sempala had their Police contracts terminated, while William Kiibi and Miisi Diego were also let go by the Cops.
While explaining the various developments at Police on Sanyuka TV, club chairman, Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Timothy Halango explained that all the changes were necessary.
He said, “The players we released couldn’t fit in the style of play we are aiming for.”
“We didn’t expect them to get playing time and had to let them go because we aim at developing talent instead of ruining it.”
“Some we’ve loaned them out while others have joined our reserve team, Police Young in the Regional League,” Halango added.
Meanwhile, the Cops have unveiled ten new players including Edgar Tukahirwa, Brian James Obedi, Isaac Ogwang, Ahmed Amayo, Raymond Onyai, Edmond ‘Sizzo’ Otim, Edward Kasibante, Steven Kabuye, Ivan Eyamu and Allan Bukenya.
Exciting midfielder Timothy Muwanguzi has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Police until 2025.
Last season, Police narrowly missed out on a qualification slot by just three points, having accumulated 54 points from 30 games to finish fourth on a 16-team table, just a position below NEC FC who took up the third and last qualification slot to the UPL with 57 points.
