Exciting young midfielder Emmanuel Oketch is set to join Uganda Premier League (UPL) side URA FC.
The former Onduparaka player is currently training with URA at Hormisdalen Primary School Gayaza.
Oketch even scored one of URA’s two goals as the Tax Collectors drew 2-2 with Bugema University in a pre-season friendly match on Thursday morning.
URA attempted signing Oketch last season, but his former club frustrated the move, as they put a hefty price for anyone who wanted to buy their player.
URA will now get their man as a free agent, after the expiration of his three – year contract with Onduparaka.
Earlier reports had linked Oketch to Lira-based FUFA Big League side Blacks Power FC, as he was associating closely with the club officials these past few weeks.
Apparently, the club wanted to sign him, and he was open to joining them too, but they failed to agree on personal terms.
The player, who comes from Lira would have liked to stay and play at home, but the deal wasn’t offering him as much as he’d expected, so he opted for URA, where he was offered better.
Oketch has also previously played for Saviors FC in the Big League before joining Onduparaka in 2020, but it is with the Caterpillars in the UPL that he shone the brightest, attracting suitors like URA who have been trailing him for some time now, until they finally got a chance to snap him up.
Meanwhile, URA have so far confirmed upto 13 new players including Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Laban Tibita, Sharif Kimbowa, Enoch Walusimbi, Rodgers Omedwa, Dennis Otim, Moses Aliro, Ibrahim Wammanah and Norman Namanya.
The other four signings are teenagers Godfrey Sekibengo, Denis Luzige, John Innocent Kisolo and Amis Bwangani.
