Matia Lule Assumes Head Coach Role in Tanzania

Tanzanian side Singida Fountain Gate has confirmed Matia Lule as their interim head coach.

The Ugandan tactician has been serving as the assistant coach, but he takes over the head coach role after the club parted ways with Dutchman Hans Van der Pluijm.

“Mr Hans has been with the club for some time now helping the team achieve big milestones. However, as per this announcement, Mr Hans has decided to resign on reasons attached to availing more time for his personal undertaking,” reads a statement from the Club CEO Olebile Sikwane.

“Mr Hans will forever be part of the club’s history having recorded a historic achievement for the club last season finishing in the TOP 4, and qualifying the club for the current CAF Confederations Competition in which recently he has helped the team to advance to the 2nd round in the competition.

“We are profusely indebted to his service to the club, the commitment and professionalism with which he always carried himself throughout his many coaching spells with us.

“In the meantime, the Assistant Coach Lule Mathias assumes the Caretaker Coach role until the club makes further announcements.”

Hans succeeded Ramadhan Nsanzurwimo in the dugout.

His last game was a 2-0 defeat they against JKU of Zanzibar in the second leg of the CAF Confederation cup, however the progressed to the second preliminary round thanks to a 4-3 aggregate victory.

It’s a big role for Lule who served in the same capacity at Mbeya City for two seasons before joining the side in 2022.
