Erisa Sekisambu Joins Another Top Rwandan Club

Ugandan forward Erisa Sekisambu joined another Rwanda Premier League side, AS Kigali from Rwandan giants Kiyovu Sports.

Sources from Rwanda have indicated that the versatile forward has moved to the Kigali-based club on a two-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2025.

Judging by achievements, Sekisambu’s former club is far bigger than AS Kigali that has only two Rwandan Cups and two Rwandan Super Cups to show for trophies, unlike Kiyovu who have won seven league titles, and numerous other trophies.

Last season, Kigali finished fourth, with 47 points from 30 games, while Sekisambu’s Kiyovu narrowly missed out on the league title on goal difference, after accumulating 63 points from 30 games, exactly the same as eventual champions APR, who topped the table with nine goals more.

Apparently, Kigali offered better than Kiyovu was willing to, prompting the player to consider crossing over, according to sources close to the player.

The Uganda Cranes international has played for the top five teams in the Uganda Premier League including record champions SC Villa, KCCA FC, Vipers SC, Express FC and URA FC.

Sekisambu has also previously played for Gor Mahia in Kenya,Taxien in Malta and Kiyovu in Rwanda.

Meanwhile, the new season in Rwanda has already began, and Kigali currently sit seventh on the table after two games, having won one and lost the other to collect just three points.
