City Oilers needed overtime to beat KIU Titans 80-72 in a thrilling Friday game in the National Basketball League at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo.
KIU Titans who played catch-up for the best part of the game, put up a good fight before Oilers’ quality resurfaced at the right time.
The normal regulation time ended with the game tied 66-66 before Titans were limited to just six points in the five-minute period.
Titus Lual led the charges with 19 points and 11 rebounds double double for Oilers.
Tonny Drilleba (18), Fayed Baale (17) and Ivan Muhwezi (11) scored in double digits for Oilers who didn’t have Jimmy Enabu.
Denis Balungu scored a game high 23 points but his effort proved not enough despite valuable addition from Innocent Achola and Amisi Saidi who scored 18 and 14 points respectively.

It’s win number 19 in as many games for Oilers whose loss against Ndejje University Angels was overturned by FUBA Competitions Council after the latter used an ineligible player.
Their three remaining games are against Our Saviour, UCU Canons and JKL Dolphins.
It’s a consecutive defeat for KIU who came into the game on the back of a 57-61 defeat against Our Saviour.
The loss is the fifth for KIU Titans in 21 games and the side will be hoping to end the season on a high in their last game against Ndejje.
