•Women’s 800m semis – Halima Nakaayi, 9:25pm
Middle distance runner Halima Nakaayi will hope to keep Uganda’s medal hopes alive when she takes the track on Friday at the ongoing 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Nakaayi will lineup in Heat three of the Women’s 800m, with an eye on Sunday’s final.
First two from each heat plus 2 fastest times across all the three Heats will qualify to Final.
Nakaayi reached in semis after winning her heat in a time of 1:59.68.
And she will have to double her efforts in a difficult heat that has Athing Mu (United States) and Mary Moraa (Kenya) as automatic favorites to go through.
Mu, to start with, is the Olympic and World Champion at this distance!

Moraa on the other hand, won bronze at the 2022 World Championships in Oregon and a gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
At those Commonwealth games in Birmingham, Nakaayo clocked 2:01.17 to finish at the tail (8th)!
She will bank on her 2019 heroics when she won Gold at this distance.
Adella Tracey (Jamaica) is also in this same heat!
