Unbeaten City Oilers Target KIU Titans Scalp

•City Oilers Vs KIU Titans, 9pm

City Oilers lost to Ndejje University Angels 88-80 on August 9 at Lugogo Indoor, in what was their first loss of the season.

However, the result has since been nullified as Ndejje Angels fielded debutant Gatwang Thuok who the FUBA Competitions council has ruled to be ineligible.

This decision was made on Tuesday this week, with Ndejje’s subsequent win against Our Saviour also overturned.

Gatwang who was on court for 31 minutes, poured a game high 23 points, three rebounds and six assists on Oilers.

The decision by Competition Council hands City Oilers a lifeline to finish the regular season unbeaten run.

But this run faces a stern test against KIU Titans on Friday, with Our Saviour, UCU Canons and JKL Dolphins the other teams on Oilers fixture.

Oilers will fancy their chances against KIU Titans, a side they beat 79-51 in the first round.

But KIU Titans will not be intimidated having seen Oilers bow down against relegation struggling Ndejje.

Then, Oilers threw away a halftime lead in a game they made 24 turnovers, out-rebounded 54-57 and missed 29 of their 39 three point attempts.

But whether KIU Titans can capitalize on such vulnerability, remains to be known.

KIU have won three of their last five games, and their last game was a 57-61 defeat against Our Saviour.

They will continue to be without industrious guard Collins Kasujja while Kenyan Coach Carey ‘T9’ Odhiambo is yet to return from Kenya.

A defeat for KIU Titans will all but ensure that the side finish third on the table as the side has won 16 of their 20 games.
