The sextet of Kenneth Waiswa, Alpesh Ramjani, Roger Mukasa, Simon Ssesazi, Bilal Hassun and Siraje Nsubuga all put up outstanding displays as the Cricket Cranes beat both Rwanda and Tanzania on Thursday at the East Africa Trophy T20 Cup.
Uganda batted first in both games, but in the Rwandan game that Uganda won by 86 runs, it was Mukasa, Ramjani and Nsubuga who set the agenda.
The all-time top run scorer for Uganda, Mukasa knocked 89 as he set the tone for Sessazi (23), Ronald Lutaya (20), Ramjani (32) and team captain Brian Masaba (10) on Uganda’s way to setting 192/6. Mukasa picked the Man of the Match award for his knock.
Added to Ramjani’s runs, the all-rounder was on the forefront in picking wickets. He picked three.
The same game had Nsubuga pick the same number of wickets as Uganda bowled out Rwanda in the 15th Over.
Waiswa picked up two wickets in the Rwandan game, but it is in the Tanzanian one that his A game from both fronts was witnessed.
Waiswa who has now won three Man of the Match awards in this tournament first scored a 66 not out in Uganda’s innings, before sending three wickets back to the dugout. He picked the Man of the Match award to add to the two he recieved on Match Day one.
Waiswa now totals 13 wickets in the competition which make him the highest wicket take at the tourney.
Bilal as well rounded the day with three wickets he got against Tanzania. With his two, Jonathan Ssebanja made it three for himself in Rwanda.
Sessazi was another half centurion on Thursday. The opener put on board 60 in a game in scored 6 fours. Ronak Patel got 30 off 27.
Uganda remain top of the table. They return to action on Friday against Tanzania.
