Uganda 186/10
Rwanda 125/10
Uganda won by 61 runs
Alpesh Ramjani picked up the Player of the Match award as the Cricket Cranes made it three wins at the East Africa Trophy T20 Cup ongoing in Kigali, Rwanda.
Simon Ssesazi hit 4 sixes enroute to registering 41 runs, but the spinning all-rounder recorded 45 runs, and most importantly picked four wickets as Uganda defended their 186/10 score to win by 61 runs.
It was the first time in the Ugandan team a player other than Kenneth Waiswa was winning this award at this tourney.
David Wabwire who is on a debut tour with the national team brewed the crashing of the hosts that Alpesh sunk at the backend. Wabwire cleaned the top order, picking the first of his three wickets with the fifth ball of the first Over.
The duo had support from their captain Brian Masaba who dismissed two. Masaba (c) and Alpesh (b) combined to dismiss Rwandan captain Clinton Rubagumya (40) who had become a menace, and who had built a formidable partnership with Emmanuel Sebareme.
Roger Mukasa opened the batting with Ssesazi, but he was only able to secure one run. The rest of the runs for Uganda came from Ronak Patel (44), Waiswa (20) and Ronald Lutaya (17).
Rwanda’s opening bowler, Zappy Bimenyimana also had three wickets in this game, one of those being Mukasa who he dismissed with the second last ball of the first Over.
With this loss, Rwanda remain placed bottom of this three-team tournament. Uganda on the other hand lead the proceedings.
Uganda will take a break on Wednesday, and return to action on Thursday against Rwanda in the morning, and Tanzania in the afternoon.
