•Jwaneng Galaxy 2-0 Vipers
Vipers were beaten 2-0 by Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy on Sunday in the first leg of the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
Thabang Sesinyi did the damage, scoring a brace on the day at the Lobatse Sports Complex.
He was set by Gilbert Baruti to open the scores in the 15th minute and later doubled the lead in the 73rd thanks to Benson Mangolo’s assist.
Vipers will feel they could have scored at least an away goal, but will rue wasted chances.
Yunus Sentamu missed at either side of the halftime break including one in the second half when he couldn’t find the target after good work from Bright Anukani.
Anukani was also kept out goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko but even substitute Mohamed Salem couldn’t bundle in from a rebound.
Brazilian Giancarlo Rodriguez shot an inch wide from a freekick as Vipers battled in vain.
On the flip side of the coin, Vipers will also have Alfred Mudekereza to thank for keeping the score within reach.
The shot-stopper denied Sechele Moagi from freekick and once again called out to make a double save against Carlos Fredericks and Moagi.
It’s now work cut out for Vipers who have to score three unanswered goals when the two sides meet at Kitende this Saturday, to go through.
