Central Rhinos beat Eastern Buffalos by 43 runs to set up a clash between themselves and Rwanda Emerging in the finals of the Batball X on Sunday.
After losing the first game of the Super 4 to Nile Leopards, Rhinos knew the only way for them to earn a spot in the final was through winning their remaining two games.
They did just that on Saturday, beating both Rwanda Emerging and Eastern Buffalos.
The win against Emerging was on a Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method owing to the afternoon showers, but it is one that handed them their first Super 4 victory.
The Rhinos then sealed the spot in the final, comfortably beating the Buffalos who exit the Super 4 without a win.
Anas Baig hit a half century of 67 against the Buffalos. Team captain Christopher Kidega scored 32 off 16 balls, but Yunusu Sowobi owned the game. The medium pacer notched a fifer as Rhinos ensured to keep their net run rate higher than Nile Leopards’.
Like both Rhinos and Emerging, Leopards accumulated two wins, but just not enough run rate to see them to finals.
Leopards will now play Eastern Buffalos for a third place finish. That game will curtain raise tomorrow’s final.
