Reports: Vipers, Mamelodi Sundowns Friendly Off

The scheduled International Friendly between Uganda champions Vipers and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns has been called off, a source has told Th-SportsNation.

The match was due Wednesday, August 16 in Pretoria, South Africa.

The-SportsNation has learnt that the Friendly will not happen due to delay of the South African Visas.

Both teams are yet to comment on developments.

It’s a big blow for Vipers who wanted to use the Friendly as a precursor for their CAF Champions League qualifier against Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy due Sunday 20th.

It should be noted that Mamelodi Sundowns is home for former Uganda Cranes Captain and goalkeeper Denis Masinde Onyango.

Sundowns is also a club owned by CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

Vipers SC have already played one international friendly, a 2-0 win against Tanzania’s Kagera Sugar.
