Baker Lukooya Joins UPL Side

Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants will be confirming the signing of attacker Baker Lukooya, The-SportsNation can confirm.

Lukooya joins the Purple Sharks with vast experience having played with Soana (now Tooro United), AFC Leopards (Kenya), Kiira Young, KCCA, Bright Stars and Express among others.

Lukooya has not been active with football for a recent while, and last featured for Express FC in 2020 in the League.

But his exploits in Beach Soccer – Sand Cranes (Uganda National Beach Soccer team) and St Lawrence – are well documented.

Mark Nsubuga, Andrew Samson Kigozi, Blanchar Mulamba and Muhammad Ssenoga Kagawa have been unveiled at Wakiso, with the latte joining on loan from KCCA.

Defender Bashir Asiku and Samuel Madiba are on their list of new additions.

Shariph Kimbowa, Moses Aliro, Grant Matsiko and Samson Kiirya have left Wakiso Giants.

The Purple Sharks were beaten 2-0 by KCCA in the FUFA Super Eight Quarterfinals.

John Ayala’s side finished 8th last season, with 36 points, level with seventh-placed BUL who had a better goal-difference.
