Hundreds Continue Registering For Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon

Team Matooke Running Club has registered 200 runners for the much anticipated 2023 Tusker Lite Mountain Rwenzori Marathon.

The Marathon due September 2, will be held in Kasese.

Team Matooke, with Runners from all around Kampala city and had a monthly distance race to Entebbe, will have 200 runners for the Kasese showdown.

Martin Makumbi, the President of the running club shared that members were channelling their energy towards the upcoming Rwenzori Marathon event with an estimated 200 club members already registered.

“We are all looking forward to the new 42km marathon route. It is definitely going to be a challenge but one worth taking especially because it will test our endurance and determination most,” said Makumbi.

The Rwenzori marathon, that will also include a thrilling 21km half marathon, returns for the second edition after it’s debut last year.

Title sponsor Tusker-Lite earlier injected Sh800m for this year’s event.

It was also earlier revealed that renown Commentator Rob Walker and Holly Budge (the first woman to skydive Mount Everest), will run this year.

Last year, Allan Andyema won the 42km, Douglas Chebii won the 21km race. Isgah Cheruta and Annet Chesang were crowned winners in Women’s 42 and 21km in that order.
