Martin Makumbi, the President of the running club shared that members were channelling their energy towards the upcoming Rwenzori Marathon event with an estimated 200 club members already registered.
“We are all looking forward to the new 42km marathon route. It is definitely going to be a challenge but one worth taking especially because it will test our endurance and determination most,” said Makumbi.
For those who seek to join this incredible journey, the opportunity is still open. The registration portal at www.mtrwenzorimarathon.com calls upon athletes to be a part of history and add their name to the list of those who dared to conquer the marathon terrain
The Rwenzori marathon, that will also include a thrilling 21km half marathon, returns for the second edition after it’s debut last year.
Title sponsor Tusker-Lite earlier injected Sh800m for this year’s event.
It was also earlier revealed that renown Commentator Rob Walker and Holly Budge (the first woman to skydive Mount Everest), will run this year.
Last year, Allan Andyema won the 42km, Douglas Chebii won the 21km race. Isgah Cheruta and Annet Chesang were crowned winners in Women’s 42 and 21km in that order.
