Ronald Lutaya was named the Player of the Match after he hit 92 not out for Uganda XI against Uganda A during the National Men’s T20 Trial Game in Lugogo.
Lutaya’s team lost the game by four wickets, but his knock couldn’t go unnoticed and he was awarded the Player of the Match award. The teenager faced 50 balls and hit five sixes and eight fours as his side posted 184/8.
Roger Mukasa and Kenneth Waiswa were the other players who stood out for Uganda XI. Mukasa scored 35 from 22 while Waiswa despite a poor show with the bat, picked three wickets- the most by any player.
For the day’s winners, Simon Ssesazi notched a half century of 56. Riazat Ali Shah (30), Fred Achelam (27), Alpesh Ramjani (23) all scored in double digits while the trio of Robinson Obuya, Pascal Murungi and Frank Nsubuga each scored 12.
Ramjani and Nsubuga came in handy with the ball, each picking two wickets.
The trials games are aimed at identifying fresh talent and maintaining players fitness.
