Mbale Heroes Solve Goalkeeping Puzzle

Goalkeepers Muhammad ‘Didi’ Kasule and Paul Mujampwani have both agreed terms to stay at Mbale Heroes, The-SportsNation has learnt.

Though not yet officially announced by the newly promoted FUFA Big League side, this website has established that the two goalkeepers have been offered new contracts at the club.

The ‘Boys from Jinja’ did so well for the Surgeons last season, now the Mbale side wants to keep them both.

The two goalkeepers shared time in The Surgeons’ goalposts last season, keeping a combined 21 cleansheets in 28 games across all competitions, conceeding only seven goals amongst them in the process.

Didi played 16 games, kept 12 cleansheets and conceded four goals while Mujampwani conceded three goals and kept nine cleansheets in 11 games.

Before playing together at Mbale Heroes, the two Busoga Province teammates had also previously simultaneously featured for Gaddafi FC and BUL FC in Jinja.

Both goalkeepers have proven to be good, bit Didi is clearly the more experienced one, having also featured at JMC, Bugembe United, Water, Sadolin Paints, Tooro United, Busoga United and Kenya’s Nairobi Stima.

Unlike Mujampwani who just joined Mbale Heroes last season, Didi has spent the last two years in Mbale where he has gone on to captain the Surgeons, also becoming a fans’ favorite.

Didi has been voted the best goal keeper in the Eastern Regional League for two consecutive seasons.

Mbale Heroes want to mainly utilise his experience, and other players’ qualities in their quest to attain Uganda Premier League status.
