Derrick Ochen’s Versatility Earns Him New Lugazi Contract

Former Onduparaka defender Derrick Ochen has signed a new contract with Big League side Lugazi FC.

The leftback, who can also play centreback and midfield roles has extended his stay in Lugazi for another season, having joined the club late last year.

According to sources close to the former URA player, it was very easy for him to chose to stay at the club where ‘he has found peace, and already feels at home’.

Apparently, players find the organisation at the new Big League club admirable, as compared to most clubs at the same level.

After just their first season in the Big League, in which they peeped at promotion to the first division, Lugazi now want to make the move deliberate this term.

They were only 13 points away from qualification, after finishing sixth on the 15-team table with 44 points from 30 games.

Meanwhile, the club recently announced departure of upto nine players, including their top scorer Gerald Ogweti and goalkeeper Anthony Emojong.

Bob Charles Akena, Farook Banga, Godfrey Bubi, David Kizza, Tito Titus Lubega, Ben Ntege and Florence Watmon are the other players who have left the club during this transfer period.
