Friday 3rd August
- Uganda Vs Tanzania, 6pm – Azam Complex Chamazi stadium
Uganda will be hoping to seal the CECAFA Women U18 title when they face off with Tanzania in what seems to be a highly entertaining affair on Friday evening in their last game.
Uganda, who are leading the standings, are level on points with Tanzania and need to avoid defeat on Friday in a tournament that is played on a round robin format.
It has been an impressive tournament for Ayub Khalifa’s charges, who are yet to even concede any goal after three games.
They kicked off the tournament with a 1-0 win against Ethiopia, took care of Zanzibar (3-0) before humiliating Burundi with a comfortable 7-0 this week on Tuesday.
The three Victories saw Uganda move to the top with nine points on a better goal difference (11), ahead of second placed Tanzania who are tied on similar points.
And on Friday, against the hosts Tanzania, Uganda will need at least a draw or any positive result to be named champions.
Head coach Ayub Khalifa revealed that it’s going to be a tricky game but is optimistic of taking the day.
“It’s not going to be an easy game for us since it’s like a final and the one who wins takes the day. But my girls are ready and determined to win this game, he told the press after Thursday training,” said Ayub Khalifa.
Against Tanzania, Khalifa will be hoping that his side can replicate their brilliant performances in their previous game against Burundi.
They looked sharp upfront especially in the second half of that game where they scored more five goals.
It’s strong to note that this tournament is played in a round robin format where the team with the most points will be crowned champions.
