Vipers 2-1 Kagera Sugar FC
Brazilian born forward Rodriguez Lopez Gincarlo scored on his debut as Vipers beat Kagera Sugar 2-1 in a friendly held behind closed doors at Kitende on Wednesday.
Gincarlo, off the bench scored in the 47th minute to add on Abdul Lumala’s goal who had scored earlier in the 27th minute.
Uganda born striker Hamis Diego Kizza scored the only goal from the spot in the 76th minute as they lost on the day.
The game is a good test for Vipers, who are gearing up for the upcoming continental engagements where they will face Botswana side Jwaneng Galaxy in the preliminary of the CAF champions League.
Against Kagera, Vipers head coach Leonard Martins Neiva trusted some of his new men including midfielder Otavio Tinga.
Lumala put his side ahead in the 27th minute tapping in home and his goal was the difference at half time.
At the restart, head coach Neiva introduced in Gincarlo, move that later paid off.
Gincarlo, who came in for Tety benefited from Yunus Sentamu’s through ball to double his side’s lead.
Later in the 76th minute, Kizza pulled one back for the Visitors but his goal only proved to be a consolation.
The Venoms have been busy in this transfer market and have already unveiled eight players including URA versatile player Patrick Mbowa.
They will be hoping for more friendly games as they fine tune ahead of the busy schedule both on the continent and back here in the league.
