FUFA Super Eight: Who Will play for Arua Hill?

When FUFA announced the return of the Super Eight tournament after an absence of four years, there was excitement, and panic for others.

The two-weeks preseason competition will be played between August 4th and 18th, 2023.

Arua Hill SC, who were fourth last season were drawn against URA FC who finished fifth.

The Tax Collectors seem so ready for the new season, as they have announced the arrival of a number of new additions, and their preseason training is moving on smoothly.

There, however seemed to be only one but major reason for Arua Hill to panic, Some of their key players have already left the club, and more others are lining up on the exit door. Who will play for the Kongolo?

Some key figures at the club have already left, but an even bigger number of Arua Hill’s important players from the previous season have stayed.

As goalkeeper Rodgers Omedwa left to URA, there’s Richard Anyama to start with in the posts. The custodian will continue with the club, despite various reports linking him to new UPL entrants NEC FC.

Captain Rashid Toha, defenders Bright Vuni and Richard Matovu, midfielder Allan Mugalu and last season’s top scorer Innocent Media all departed the club.

The future of Isaac Okello, Paulo Musamali and Innocent Maduka among other players at the club is not certain.

Meanwhile, one of last season’s best midfielders in the league Gaddafi Wahab confirmed that he’s going nowhere.

Geriga Atendele, Ibrahim Faizul and Reagan Mpande will remain Kongolo.

Industrious midfielder Junior Andama returns to Arua Hill from loan to Calvary, and will be a very important figure in the team’s midfield.

Gibson Adinho, Rashid Kawawa, Jacob Kamwesiga, Isaac Ogwang, Rashid Muhammad and Ivan Eyamu are all expected to stay with the club.

The club can also easily keep Yusuf Mafabi, Jimmy Kanakulya, Brian Omirambe and Steven Kabuye.

Relatively, Arua Hill have also confirmed three new additions, with the latest being youngster Juma Muzamil who was rewarded with a contract, after training with the senior team for a whole season, and going on to impress.

Former Busoga United and Maroons FC gigantic centre back Nelson Mandela was also announced as a new player for Arua Hill, by the club. He signed a one year contract.

The ‘forest rangers’ also snapped up free agent John Rodgers Okumu on a two year deal from neighbors Onduparaka. He is aggressive and versatile, capable of playing across the backline and either flank.

The club is understandably set to announce even more new additions in the coming few days.

Most importantly, the coach too stayed. Livingstone Mbabazi will continue working with the club, despite reports linking him to a move away from Arua.

The level of preparation may vary, as compared to other clubs, but Arua Hill have a team that can play, they will compete.
